Approach

Eclectic skills building interventions for youth and their parents, focused on emotional regulation, social skills development, executive functioning and life skills development.  She aims to create spaces where youth and families feel connected, valued, and supported as they navigate challenges through meaningful collaborative relationships.

education and experience

Melissa is a Child and Youth Worker with 27 years of experience at The Phoenix Centre, supporting children, youth, and families through a relationship-centered and collaborative approach. Her work has always been grounded in strong partnerships with schools and a deep belief that connection, warmth, and trust are the foundation for meaningful growth.

She began her career in residential treatment, working with youth whose behaviours reflected deep trauma and unmet needs. These early experiences shaped her belief that the most challenging behaviours call for the strongest relationships.

Melissa later spent 18 years in Day Treatment, supporting students and their families who were unable to succeed in traditional school environments.

Today, she brings all these experiences into her role as a School and Family Liaison. In this role, Melissa helps families feel heard, supports educators, and ensures students feel understood.
