Approach (in-person or virtual)

Assessment provides insight into how a child learns, communicates, and experiences their environment. I aim to make that process supportive, transparent, and grounded in respect for each child’s individuality. With more than 24 years in education, I use a neurodiversity‑affirming framework that values diverse learning and thinking styles.

Education & Experience

I am a seasoned educator, and my work is shaped by more than two decades in Ontario classrooms throughout the vibrant communities of Renfrew County. My years as both a classroom teacher and Special Education Resource Teacher give me a practical, student‑centered lens on assessment, one rooted in real learning environments, diverse learners, and the everyday realities of Ontario schools.

Because I understand curriculum expectations, developmental trajectories, and classroom demands, I bring a level of experience that strengthens every assessment I conduct. I know how cognitive, academic, and behavioural profiles show up in real classrooms, and I can distinguish between skill deficits, performance challenges, anxiety, masking, and environmental barriers. This helps me interpret data with nuance and create recommendations that are not only evidence‑based but truly workable for school teams and families.

My approach with students is warm, calm, and relationship‑focused. Years of supporting diverse learners have taught me how to build trust quickly and create a testing environment where children feel safe, capable, and understood. I communicate clearly and compassionately with families, ensuring they feel informed, respected, and supported throughout the assessment process.

Every child brings their own spark, their own rhythm, and their own way of moving through the world. Assessment is most meaningful when it feels safe, respectful, and grounded in genuine connection. I am committed to seeing the whole child and helping families and school teams understand not just what a student finds challenging, but what helps them thrive.

In 2026, I joined the team at Pembroke Psychological Services. In this role, I work collaboratively with Dr. Alisha Henson to provide comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments for children and youth.
